Around fifty vehicles have been covered with what appears to be human bodily fluid in the Germany's city of Hanau near Frankfurt, police confirm law enforcement.
Automobiles, building surfaces and postal boxes were defaced, occasionally with Nazi symbols, they announced in a statement.
Officers state they were notified in the late hours on Wednesday night, when a resident noticed that a vehicle in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been smeared with a red-colored fluid.
The substance had been placed in the shape of a banned symbol, they added.
Law enforcement then found multiple other vandalized vehicles and building exteriors in the surrounding area.
Nazi symbols are banned in Germany under laws prohibiting the visible presentation of symbols from the Nazi era.
Law enforcement report early analysis suggest the substance was most likely blood from a person.
"At present there remains no clue as to its origin; officials are not yet aware of any injuries in association with the event," they commented.
City officials said they were attempting "to solve the incident" and have requested to the residents for tips.
An important representative stated the incident rendered him speechless and needed to be solved rapidly.
"This event hits the center of Hanau and reopens the wounds of the far-right terrorist attack in 2020," he posted on a platform, recalling the killing of nine individuals by a assailant focusing on people of migrant background in 2020.
